Highlights of 40th Anniversary Reception
On October 14th, 2009 the Institute of Urban Studies held its 40th anniversary celebration. In attendance were provincial and municipal politicians, University faculty, members of the public and former staff. Among the speakers were University President Dr. Lloyd Axworthy and former IUS Director Dr. Tom Carter, as well as Terry Wotton, Winnipeg Corporate representative for Canada Mortgage and Housing, to which IUS owes much of its early existence. The Institute's present Director Dr. Jino Distasio served as MC and the festivities were topped off with a large cake decorated with the IUS logo.
In the coming months, watch for retrospective essays on the Institute's history on our CityStates blog http://citystates.typepad.com/ius/ and other anniversary news!
